What I’m Reading Now

  • Brave New World
    by Aldous Huxley
Aldous Huxley presents a fantasy of the future, and draws upon his philosophical roots to shape and articulate it in terms of the emerging modernity of pre-WWII Europe. Decades later, its horrific depiction of amoral social engineering, eugenics, and totalitarian rule takes one aback. This is one of those books we should be reading in the 21st Century, if only as a cautionary tale.

  • Selling the Dream
    by Guy Kawasaki

Guy Kawasaki, former Macintosh evangelist at Apple Computer and later an Apple Fellow, has plenty to say about marketing, customer service, and visionary leadership. This man successfully sold a computer system (the Mac, of course) that had no software, zero user base, and a completely new interface. He draws from his experiences at Apple and from the greater business world to illustrate customer evangelism. This book, like all of Kawasaki’s, is as funny as it is wise, but don’t be misled; the wisdom is the real deal, making Guy the samurai of marketing.
